Privacy policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026

TidyTime is a mail app for macOS. This policy explains what data the app uses, where it is stored and who it is shared with. The short version: your email stays on your Mac, and TidyTime has no servers of its own for your data to pass through.

Who is responsible

TidyTime is operated by [name or company], located at [address]. For any privacy question, write to [privacy@tidytime.app].

What data the app uses

  • Your email. Messages, senders, labels and folders from the accounts you connect (Gmail or iCloud), to display, search and sort them.
  • Account credentials. The app passwords or access permissions you grant when connecting an account.
  • Your AI key. The OpenAI or Anthropic key you enter to use Tidy and the AI features.
  • Calendar and reminders. Only if you give TidyTime permission in macOS, so Tidy can read them and, when you confirm, create or change events and reminders.

Where it is stored

Everything is stored on your Mac. Your email and derived information (categories, search index, history) live in a database encrypted with SQLCipher (AES-256). The database key, your account credentials and your AI key are stored in the macOS Keychain. TidyTime does not copy your data to any server of its own.

Who it is shared with

  • Your email provider. TidyTime connects directly to Google or Apple to download your email and apply the changes you make (archive, label, mark as read).
  • Your AI provider. When you use Tidy or an AI feature, the content needed for that request (for example, the text of the emails to summarize or sort) is sent directly to OpenAI or Anthropic, whichever you have set up, using your own key. That provider handles it under its own privacy policy and API terms.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising or share it with anyone else. [Confirm the app sends no analytics or crash reports; if it does, describe them here.]

Google user data

TidyTime’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Gmail data is only used to provide the app features you see on screen, is not used for advertising, and no person reads it unless you explicitly ask us to for support.

How long it is kept

Data stays on your Mac while you use the app. If you remove an account in TidyTime, its email is deleted from the local database. If you uninstall the app, you can delete the data folder at ~/Library/Application Support/TidyTime and TidyTime’s Keychain entries.

Your rights

Because all data is on your computer, you control it directly. You can revoke TidyTime’s access to your Google account from your account’s security settings, and to your calendar from System Settings › Privacy & Security. If you have any question, or want to exercise your rights of access, correction or deletion, write to the contact address above.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and note it on the website.
